Weak pellet strength from flat die granulators is a common issue in organic fertilizer and feed production, directly affecting product storage and performance.

1.Optimize Raw Material Mix

Adjust fiber content to 20-30% for better binding.

Keep moisture content at 15-18% (ideal range).

Add 5-8% lignin or starch-based binder.

Ensure raw materials are ground to at least 80 mesh.

2.Adjust Machine Settings

The gap between the die rollers of the flat die granulator is adjusted to 0.1-0.3 mm.

Increase compression pressure to 8-12MPa.

Control discharge temperature at 55-65°C.

Adjust main shaft speed to the best range of 80-120 rpm.

3.Choose the Right Die

Select dies with a compression ratio of 3:1 to 5:1.

Check die hole wear monthly (measure it).

Keep the die hole length-to-diameter ratio between 4 and 6.

4.Improve Post-Processing

Use a proper drying curve (60℃ → 80℃ → 60℃).Allow at least 30 minutes for cooling.

5.Key Maintenance Points

Clean leftover material from the die per shift.Check roller bearing lubrication weekly.Measure die surface flatness monthly.Replace rollers worn beyond 0.5mm promptly.

In summary, systematically optimizing the raw materials, equipment settings, process, die selection, and maintenance can significantly improve pellet strength from flat die granulators by 30-50%.
