After long-term use, the die holes of a flat die granulator can become clogged with material residues, affecting pelletizing efficiency and product quality. Proper cleaning is crucial.
1. Shutdown and Inspection
Prepare before cleaning. Turn off the power to ensure the machine is fully stopped—this is a safety prerequisite. Next, carefully remove components related to the die holes. Handle parts gently during disassembly to avoid unnecessary damage.
2. Cleaning the Die Holes
Manual cleaning: For material residues in the die holes, use dedicated cleaning tools like a steel needle or custom-made cleaning rod. Insert the tool into the die hole, gently rotate it to loosen stuck material. Apply even force to avoid scratching the die holes.

Compressed air cleaning: Aim the compressed air nozzle at the die holes. Use high-pressure air to blast out fine residual particles. This works well for loose, lightweight residues.
Disassembly cleaning: For severe clogs, disassemble the die plate. Ensure the flat die granulator is powered off and follow the manual’s disassembly steps. After removing the plate, thoroughly clean the die holes with brushes and cleaning agents.
3. Equipment Check
After cleaning, inspect the die holes carefully. Check for remaining residues, scratches, or deformities. Replace or repair damaged parts immediately.
To reduce clogs during operation, control the moisture content and particle size of the material. Ensure the material is evenly fed into the die holes.
Properly cleaning the die holes of a flat die granulator extends the machine’s lifespan, maintains efficient production, and ensures high-quality pellets.
